Redeemed some credibility by being the catalyst country for the fall of the Berlin Wall and the ultimate end of European Communism. Capital Budapest is popular on the inter-railing circuit due to its stunning collection of Turkish bathing houses, and cheap lap-dancing clubs. Home to a surreal Communist statue park which has to be seen to be believed. Not a place to detox.
